Vicksburg Firefighters Battled Drummond Street Blaze on Saturday

On Saturday afternoon, firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Drummond Street.
According to Fire Chief Craig Dancyck, the Vicksburg Fire Department responded to 2705 Drummond St at 5:37 p.m. Saturday. Battalion 1 (Assistant Chief Henry Williams), Engine 6, Engine 7, Platform 1, Rescue, Fire Medic 40 and FD1 (C Danczyk) responded.
Flames were showing upon arrival and firefighters made an interior attack.
Captain Doug Holman (E6) advised temperatures inside the structure were very HOT and it was a challenge getting an initial extinguishment.
Firefighters had also deployed a 2.5” master stream at the rear corner due to heavy flames, and adjacent structures being threatened.
The fire was contained to the building of origin, occupants were able to exit safely, and the fire is under investigation.
