Vicksburg Gators defeat Callaway for regional championship

The Vicksburg girl’s basketball team won the Region 4-5A Tournament Championship game last night against Callaway. The Gators defeated the Chargers 60-43.

Sophomore Destiny Sims scored 16 points to help her team to victory.  Yakia Burns put up 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Gators.

Vicksburg has played Calloway three times this season and has won every match.

The Gator’s victory last night earned them a bye week in the 5A state tournament on Feb. 21.

The Gators have an 18-10 record. They wait to find out who will win the game between Saltillo and Cleveland Central on Monday, which will determine who the Gators face next.
