The Vicksburg High Gators men’s and women’s basketball teams returned to play at home last night for the first time in three games to play Mendenhall.

The Gators (5-1) finished strong giving Mendenhall no chance of a victory, as Vicksburg won 85-36.

Coming off a victory from last week against Cleveland Central, the men came out even better last night by putting up the highest points all season. Taylon Smith led the team with 16 points, followed by Peytin Jackson and Lacarius Johnson who both had 12 points. Senior Cameron Butler added five assists along with 11 points to help the Gators secure the victory.

The Vicksburg Lady Gators snapped their three-game losing streak last night as they faced off with Mendenhall at home. The women controlled the game all night and placed a tough defense on Mendenhall. The game had the lowest points the Lady Gators allowed since playing Port Gibson earlier in the season. Vicksburg pulled out a 62-25 win.

Vicksburg will go on the road again tomorrow to face Brandon High School. The women play at 6 p.m. and the men  at 7:30 p.m.

Warren Central High scores from last night:

Warren Central boys soccer won 10-0 over Greenville.

Warren Central women’s soccer team won 11-1 over Greenville.
