Vicksburg Juneteenth Heritage Festival to include youth Poetry Contest

The Vicksburg Juneteenth Heritage Festival has announced the 1st Annual Poetry Contest with five categories:  1st-2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade, 5th-6th grade, junior high, and high school.

Students are encouraged to write original poetry related to the history of Juneteenth and submit their entries to vicksburgjuneteenthhf@gmail.com by June 11, 2021.

First place winners in each category will receive an age appropriate Juneteenth book courtesy of Lorelei Books, gift cards to local eateries, and will be invited to read their poem during the festival.  Second place winners in each category will also receive an age appropriate book courtesy of Lorelei Books.
