Vicksburg Junior High Basketball team volunteered to give back to the community

Vicksburg Junior High basketball team spent Thursday night ringing bells and collecting for the Salvation Army.
The team was volunteering outside Walmart in a community-service project to help the less fortunate. The Gators stayed out in support for their community from 5 to 7 p.m. on a chilly night to share more than just the love of basketball, but to spread the love to the community that loves them back.
The Gators are led by head coach Jerdon Hardiman and assistant coach DeAndre King.
“Giving back and helping others has always been very important to me,” Hardiman said.
Both seventh and eighth-grade teams participated in the event, and it gave them a chance to spend a little time as a team outside the gym.
“Not only does giving back benefit the community, but it also boosts morale and produces a profoundly positive impact on the world around us,” Hardiman said.
The Gators are still No. 1 and have a perfect 11-0 record. They will be back in action on the court after the holidays.
