South Delta came out in the second half with a huge 3-pointer that tied the ball game. Malik Montgomery and Carter stepped up in the third quarter for the Gators. They were the only two who scored for the Gators that quarter, and Vicksburg trailed 36-33 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Tyler Henderson and Smith took over the game to help the Gators (11-0) defeat South Delta. Smith finished with 15 points, and with the help of his teammates, the Gators won 55-48.
“Coach gave us a talk at halftime, and I prayed about it, and we came out with the win,” Smith said.
The Lady Gators also defeated South Delta 29-28 last night in a game that was determined in the final few seconds. Cynia Johnson and Rodrianna Hall both put up 9 points each to help the Lady Gators pull off the victory.
The game stayed close all night but with tough playing and determination, the Gators came out on top.
