Vicksburg Law Enforcement Task Force in effect weekends beginning Thursday

Wednesday, Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. announced a Special Law Enforcement Task Force to prevent, reduce and respond to crime during the extended COVID-19 emergency proclamation.

The task force may become a permanent fixture if the results warrant it.

Police patrols will be increased Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through August 2.

There shall be a minimum of 11 patrol officers on duty along with a watch commander and deputy chief. The deputy chiefs are scheduled as follows:

  • Deputy Chief Stewart is working Thursday, July 16, thru Sunday, July 19.
