Vicksburg man died in I-20 crash late Sunday

A Vicksburg man was killed late Sunday night on Interstate 20 near Bolton.

Jody W. Chapin, 38, died of his injuries after apparently crashing his pickup truck into an 18-wheeler parked on the side of the highway around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, WLBT reports.

Preliminary reports from the Mississippi Highway Patrol indicate that Chapin’s pickup was traveling west in the right lane and left the roadway before the crash occurred.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was outside his vehicle and debris from the crash hit him. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the 18-wheeler was not injured.

The accident is under investigation.
