Vicksburg man manages to flee for help after being shot twice

A Vicksburg man was shot Thursday night on Feld Street and ran to Mission and MLK to call for help.
Just after 8 p.m. a Vicksburg man, Herman Tyler, Jr., no age was given, was shot on Feld Street in Vicksburg. He was struck in the shoulder and the hip and ran down Feld to MLK to the basketball courts located at Mission 66 where neighbors called 911.
When police and paramedics arrived, Tyler was on the ground being attended to by locals who were applying pressure to his wounds. A crowd of concerned onlookers were there and said the shots came from “up the hill,” pointing to the intersection with MLK. Feld is the first residential street west of the basketball courts.

Neighbors on Feld said they heard the shots and they sounded like they came from right there, but on the scene, police believed the shots came from Feld towards the basketball courts as initially reported. We now know the shooting took place on Feld and the victim ran down to the courts.
There were three minors at the residence on Feld when the shooting occurred. Those children ran into the woods behind the home and stayed there until a family member arrived to retrieve them. The children were uninjured.
Police stated the shooter is a juvenile and they will release more information as the law allows.
