A Vicksburg man, Maurice Duff, 44, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced U.S. Attorney Darren J. LaMarca and Special Agent in Charge Brad Byerley of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The sentencing took place in U.S. District Court in Hattiesburg and marked the conclusion of a case that began on January 11, 2021, when Duff was caught selling 83.62 grams of pure methamphetamine to a DEA confidential source in Hattiesburg.

Following investigation, a federal grand jury indicted Duff on July 19, 2022, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Realizing the severity of the evidence against him, Duff pled guilty on February 16, 2023, hoping for a more lenient sentence.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Erica Rose and Shundral Cole led the prosecution.
