Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace has reported a Vicksburg man has been shot.

The victim, Marlon Robinson, 30, said someone shot him as he was traveling in his car on Mississippi 27 south the Vicksburg. The shooting happened at about 4 a.m.

Robinson was taken by ambulance to Merit Health with a gunshot wound to the face. He was later transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Information on his condition was unavailable.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said deputies “…received a call about 4 a.m. concerning a wreck on Mississippi 27 south of the city limits.” According to sheriff’s office reports, Robinson’s car was southbound on Mississippi 27 when it went off the road and into standing water in the ditch. An eyewitness to the wreck called 911 and helped to get Robinson out of the car.

Robinson explained to paramedics and law enforcement, when they arrived, that he had been shot in the facial area by someone in another car.

Investigators have a suspect in the shooting but no arrest. Sheriff Pace advised the Vicksburg Daily News that since it was an ongoing investigation, he would not comment further.
