On April 17, the National Park Service (NPS) will start work to clean the canopy over the USS Cairo and to make other improvements to the facility including restroom upgrades.

For the duration of the project, the USS Cairo outdoor exhibit area including the boat itself, the restrooms, and the USS Cairo Museum will be closed for public access. The boat will be wrapped to protect it during the project. There will be temporary restrooms available for public use. Visitors will have access to the parking area, picnic area, and the National Cemetery.

The project is expected to last for approximately one month, though final project duration will depend upon weather and other conditions.
