Vicksburg National Military Park closes visitor center and USS Cairo Museum

The Vicksburg National Military Park’s Visitor Center and the USS Cairo Museum will temporarily close effective Tuesday, March 17, in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

The park tour road remains open to visitors from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Visitors can still access the USS Cairo Gunboat. Additionally, restrooms at the Visitor Center remain open for public use.

The decision was made in consultation with public health authorities. The health and safety of our visitors, employees, and volunteers have always been our top priority and we are taking this step for their protection and to help prevent the further spread of the virus.

We look forward to again welcoming our visitors from across the nation and around the globe at a time when public health officials indicate it is appropriate to do so.
