The Vicksburg National Military Park is holding a service event next weekend to clear storm debris in the park.

A large amount of tree limbs and branches fell around the park during February’s ice storm, with an extensive amount of debris falling in Vicksburg National Cemetery.

Vicksburg NMP is requesting volunteers to help get the National Cemetery back in shape and in safe condition for visitors to enjoy.

The event will be held on Saturday, March 20th between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The project will require carrying/lifting small to medium sized tree limbs and working in small groups. Due to the nature of the work being unsafe for younger children, volunteers for this event must be age 12 and up.

Additionally, due to COVID-19 guidelines, pre-registration is required to be completed for the 30 volunteer spots available. Once you complete the registration, further event details will be sent to your email.
