Vicksburg native Ann DeRossette was recently awarded an internship to the Washington Center in D.C for the summer of 2021.

The Washington Center hosts students from all 50 states and are connected to over 400 agencies where students can get great hands-on experience in the political world.

DeRossette applied for the internship a while ago and was very excited when she found out the news that she was accepted.

“I was very excited when I got the notification, and I can’t wait to begin the program this summer,” DeRossette said.

DeRossette will leave for the Washington Center on June 6 and will stay until August 8 where she will work Monday through Thursday in an agency of her choice. The great news about the program is that 94% of participants are eventually offered jobs.

DeRossette is a freshman political science major at the University of Southern Mississippi and would eventually like to work with issues such as human rights and equity in America.

DeRossette is a 2020 graduate of Warren Central High School and the entire Vicksburg community will be rooting for her as she takes her next big steps this summer.
