Vicksburg native Jalen Davenport finished in second place at a National Powerlifting meet

Former Warren Central High School athlete Jalen Davenport finished in second place at the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals on Saturday.

Davenport, who lifts in the 220-pound weight class for Blue Mountain College, lifted a total of 1,817 points in Arlington, Texas.

Davenport bench pressed 402 pounds, dead-lifted 650 and squatted 765 while BMC finished in third place.
