TROY, Ala. –
It was another big week for the Sun Belt Leader in home runs, RBIs, and OPS as Shane Lewis has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Tuesday. Lewis becomes the first Sun Belt Player this year to be named Sun Belt Player of the Week twice.

Over four games, Lewis hit .500 and totaled 11 RBIs, including helping Troy win their third consecutive Sun Belt series. The Vicksburg, Miss. native saw his third five-RBI game of the season in the Trojans’ 22-5 route in game two against Texas State.

Lewis hit two home runs over the weekend, giving him 18 on the season; Lewis is now tied for the most home runs by a Trojan player in the Bbcor era. Lewis had seven hits, including two doubles, and scored six runs. He had an SLG% of 1.071 which led the Trojans. He had six putouts and two assists with no errors, including starting a relay to throw a runner out at the plate.

With 61 RBIs thus far, Lewis has had the most RBIs in a season by a Trojan player since 2018. In addition, he is the first Trojan to win more than one Player of the Week Award since Logan Cerny won three in 2021. Lewis took home his first Player of the Week award in week three of the season.
