Vicksburg native Tremayne Cole has earned a role in the upcoming film “The System” which will air at the end of October.

“I sent my portfolio to the casting director last year and when they called back I thought it was a joke at first,” Cole said.

Originally only supposed to play in a short scene as a bus prisoner, Cole ended up shooting lots of scenes alongside actors Tyrese and Terrence Howard. The film was shot inside the Rankin County Correctional Facility. The actors never came in contact with the inmates.

“It was cool to see how movies are made vans how filming goes,” Cole said. “We worked long, long hours and we were on set for about 17 days but I gained a lot of experience. Acting has always been a dream of mine and this movie was just a first step.”

Cole was offered three other movie roles but had to decline due to scheduling and vaccination status. During the time of shooting The System, Mississippi had at least four other movies shut down due to COVID-19 protocols, but this film survived the pandemic.

The System is directed by Dallas West and will feature prominent actors like Tyrese, Terrance Howard, Jeremy Piven and rapper Lil Yachty.

The film will be released in theaters on Oct. 28 and on digital platforms on Nov. 4.
