Vicksburg native Tyler Ivory named as Goalie of the Week

Story from Hinds Athletics
RAYMOND – Sophomore keeper Tyler Ivory(Vicksburg), of Hinds Community College men’s soccer, earned the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) Goalie of the Week honor for his performance in goal last week.
“I am really happy for Tyler especially on a week that he’s so deserving,” said head coach Robert Gardner. “For me, Tyler has been one of our unsung heroes this season making key saves in important moments and that is exactly what happened this week too.”
Ivory took part in the season finale against second-ranked Jones College and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Gulf South District Quarterfinal game against sixteenth-ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community College last week and was a difference maker.
Against Jones, he turned away 10 shots in his full 90 minutes of play. During the quarterfinal game hosted by Co-Lin, Ivory turned away five shots while only allowing two goals. One of his saves came at a crucial point in the contest when the Wolves tied the game at 2-2 in the second half. Hinds would go on to win the quarterfinal 4-2.
“At 2-2, Co-Lin had the momentum and had a shot headed to the corner, but Tyler kept it out with a great save,” Gardner said. “From there we gained back the momentum from Co-Lin and found the difference in the game.”
