Vicksburg Nursing Grads Participate in Hinds CC Ceremonies
RAYMOND, Miss. — Two Vicksburg graduates participated in Hinds Community College’s fall graduation ceremonies for Nursing and Allied Health graduates yesterday. Felicity Delgado, 24, and Audriana Williams, 35, both earned Associate Degrees in Nursing.
Delgado spoke on behalf of her classmates, while Williams offered the benediction. Both attended Hinds’ Nursing Allied Health Center and earned Associate Degrees in Nursing.
Delgado will begin her nursing career at The Bluffs Nursing Home in Vicksburg while also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing at William Carey University. Williams, meanwhile, has set her sights on becoming a flight nurse.
In her remarks, Delgado recalled her struggles in earning her degree and called on her colleagues in the Health Sciences field to remember “one key factor as we begin our careers … we are human.
“We are not robots or gods; we will make mistakes, and we will cry,” Delgado said. “We will be flooded with emotions at times, while at others we must flip the switch to keep moving. Embrace who you are and allow it to turn you into a better healthcare worker.”
The two were part of a larger cohort of Hinds students who celebrated their achievements in four graduation ceremonies at Cain-Cochran Hall on the Raymond campus. Hinds is awarding 966 degrees and 637 certificates this fall, with many graduates earning multiple credentials.
Among the graduates, 233 earned honors distinctions, including 136 cum laude (3.2 to 3.59 GPA), 75 magna cum laude (3.6 to 3.99 GPA), and 22 summa cum laude (a perfect 4.0 GPA).
The graduation festivities continue with ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 12.
