The Vicksburg Police Department is investigating several burglaries and a fatal crash that took place recently within the City of Vicksburg.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on North Washington Street

On Saturday, Sep. 24, at 12:49 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 800 block of North Washington Street for a motor vehicle accident. A 2017 Honda Accord had left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The driver, 44-year-old Ernessa Jackson of Vicksburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Auto Burglary

On Saturday, Sep. 24, at 7:48 a.m. officers took a report at the police station in reference to a theft that occurred at the Magnolia Commons Apartments. The victim reported someone entered a Chevrolet Silverado and stole a Taurus .40 caliber handgun. The victim stated he believes that the suspect unlocked the vehicle by using the key fob.

Commercial Burglary

On Saturday, Sep. 24, at 10:15 a.m. officers responded to The Liquor Shop, 4112 Clay Street in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated someone knocked a hole in the rear of the building and stole several bottles of Luc Belaire Bleu alcohol valued at $29.99 per bottle.

Auto Burglary

On Saturday, Sep. 24, at 2:37 p.m. officers responded to Hobby Lobby located at 3505 Pemberton Square Boulevard for an auto burglary. The victim stated someone went into her 2010 Saturn Outlook and stole a black purse containing $262.00 cash along with credit cards and other identity information. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

Burglary of a Dwelling

On Sunday, Sep. 25, at 7:49 a.m. officers were dispatched to an address in the 4300 block of Commons Circle in reference to a burglary. The resident advised someone broke into his residence by busting his bedroom window and climbing through. A PlayStation 5, two game controllers, a Call of Duty disc, and a jar containing $400.00 are missing. Total value of the gaming equipment is $1000.00.

Auto Burglary

On Sunday, Sep. 25, at 12:33 p.m. officers responded to an address in the 2900 block of Washington Street in reference to a theft. The victim reported someone entered a Chevrolet Impala and stole $120.00, and a Spider-Man backpack that contained a Beretta 9mm handgun. The driver’s side door was not locked.

Auto Burglary

On Monday, Sep. 26, at 11:52 a.m. officers took a report at the police station for the theft of a firearm from a vehicle. The victim stated someone took the .40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun from the center console of a Dodge Ram pick-up truck. It is not known whether or not the vehicle was locked at the time of the theft.
