Friday, officers with the Vicksburg Police Department arrested a man on drug and gun charges at a traffic stop.

Michael Dakota Spelich, 23, of Vicksburg, was arrested at 9:40 p.m. Friday on Iowa Boulevard. Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate complaints of a white male in a white 2008 Ford Edge allegedly following another vehicle and pointing a handgun at its occupants.

After officers stopped Spelich, a search of his vehicle revealed a Taurus .40-caliber handgun and a quantity of methamphetamine.

Spelich appeared before Judge Allen Derivaux Saturday in Vicksburg Municipal Court charged with one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Derivaux set his bond at $20,000 and bound him over to the Warren County grand jury.
