The Vicksburg Police Department has a local resident in custody after two hit-and-run accidents this morning.

Police received a report that a red Dodge pickup had struck a metal utility pole at the intersection of North Frontage Road and Washington Street on Monday around 8:30 a.m.

Shortly after the first report, a second accident was reported at Confederate Avenue and Army-Navy Drive, about a mile away, where the pickup reportedly hit a vehicle.

In both incidents, the driver fled the scene.

Officers located the pickup based on witnesses descriptions, and they arrested the driver. He faces numerous charges including two counts of leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence.

Entergy workers are in the area making repairs.
