Vicksburg Police arrest one suspect for yesterday’s shooting; second suspect still at large
Vicksburg Police have one suspect in custody for the shooting of Sebastian “Chico” Davis yesterday Feb. 8.
Officers apprehended the suspect, whose name has not been released, yet, at a residence on Alfred Drive in the Hillcrest subdivision off U.S. Highway 61 South just after 9 p.m. Saturday. A woman at the residence was arrested for aiding and abetting a fugitive.
The second shooting suspect was expected to turn himself in yesterday; however, he remains at large this morning.
The shooting occurred on Irene Street in Vicksburg’s Kings neighborhood on Saturday around 5 p.m.
The victim, Davis, was shot once in the lower left abdomen, according to police, and was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
His condition is not known, although he was alert and interacting with first responders at the scene, according to Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore.
Moore said police had the names of the two suspects at the scene, one of whom fired seemingly random shots into the neighborhood after shooting Davis, striking a car and a house.
“We do have two people of interest that we’re currently looking for,” Moore said at the time.
“We’re having too much gun violence in the city,” Moore added, saying it will not be tolerated, and that shooters will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
“We’re going to do all that we can to get these two individuals in custody tonight,” the chief said.
