Vicksburg police arrest shooting suspect, respond to burglary

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department arrested a man Wednesday who was wanted in connection with an Aug. 8 shooting.

Standarious Spize, 19, of Vicksburg, was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Vicksburg Police Department. Spize was wanted in connection with the Aug. 8 wounding of Willie Brown who was shot in the leg.

Spize will be held without bond overnight. He will have his initial court appearance Thursday, Aug. 20, before Judge Angela Carpenter in the Vicksburg Municipal Court.

In an unrelated incident, Vicksburg police officers responded to a residential burglary call in the 2200 block of Dana Road Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 2:46 p.m. The resident reported someone broke into the home and stole a 26-foot bumper pull trailer, a 32-inch Vizio flat-screen television and a 62-inch Vizio television.
