Vicksburg Police were called to an alleged shooting incident on Military Avenue and Franklin Street in the Marcus Bottom neighborhood around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Initial reports said two people were exchanging gunfire, but that did not turn out to be the case.

Chief Milton Moore said no shots were fired; however, there was a display of handguns from the individuals involved. No one was injured in the incident.

Police confiscated two handguns and an unspecified amount of marijuana at the scene, Moore said, and have taken the two individuals into custody on drug charges.

The chief indicated that this was a case of people not staying at home as current city ordinances mandate.

“Unfortunately, a lot of people are not adhering to the shelter-in-place order,” Moore said.

Additional charges may be made.
