On Friday around 4:50 p.m., a Vicksburg police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver failed to yield and instead, at one point, jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.

David-6, Officer Glass, was in his marked patrol unit and had activated his lights and sirens in pursuit of the driver.

The suspect, who was wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt, was the subject of a search by several units in the area of Clay and Cleveland Street. Marked and unmarked patrol units could be seen circling the area as officers searched for the suspect.

A coordinated effort by the officers forced the suspect into a smaller and smaller area. Radio traffic suggested that the man on the run may have been hiding behind an office on Clay Street. Several units converged on the area, and just before 5:30 p.m., a report came over the radio that the suspect was in custody.

The suspect was put into the back of a cruiser and taken to the VPD where an ongoing investigation is being held.

The suspect was taken into custody and placed in the back of a cruiser, where he was transported to the VPD for an ongoing investigation. Chief Charles Hill, Nora-1; Donnie Heggins, Nora-3; Matt Barnes and Investigator Eddie Colbert were all involved in the capture of the suspect.
