Vicksburg Police Department releases additional info on Tuesday morning homicide

Vicksburg Police officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 1600 block of South Street at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 12.

When officers arrived, they found 32-year-old Demarcus Maurice Preacely suffering from two gunshot wounds. Preacely succumbed to his injuries minutes later.

Witnesses described the assailant as a short, stocky black male wearing a black “smiley face” mask, a black flannel-like shirt, blue jeans and black gloves.

No suspects have been identified at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
