Vicksburg Police Department reschedules town hall with several format changes
The Vicksburg Police Department announced today that the public-safety town hall, originally scheduled for Sept. 24, has been rescheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10, at 5:30 p.m. in the board room of the Robert M. Walker Building (1415 Walnut St.). No ending time was provided.
As with the previous meeting, a panel of police force leaders will be on hand to answer questions. The panel will include Chief of Police Milton Moore, Deputy Chief Robert Stewart, Deputy Chief Eric Paymon, Captain Penny Jones and Lieutenant Johnnie Edwards. There is no mention of whether the city’s police commissioner, Mayor George Flaggs Jr., will be in attendance.
Among the format changes from the original meeting, the announcement stated that Capt. Michael Bryant, VPD’s public information officer, will moderate the meeting. All questions must submitted in written format to Capt. Bryant before the meeting. Questions can be emailed to mikeb@vicksburg.org, or mailed to him at the Vicksburg Police Department, 820 Veto St., Vicksburg, Miss., 39180.
Questions should be limited to citizen concerns regarding public safety matters within the city. Questions about current open cases or on-going investigations will not be presented to the panel, the announcement said.
In addition, where the original meeting was to be televised live and streamed on Facebook, the rescheduled meeting will not be televised or streamed, apparently.
Any video or audio recording or live streaming by members of the audience will not be allowed.
Plan on being there to get your questions answered.
