Vicksburg Police investigating shots fired into a residence on Martha Street Tuesday

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to a call of shots fired into an occupied dwelling Tuesday morning.

A resident in the 1700 block of Martha Street reported that someone shot into her home on Jan. 7 at around 4 a.m. while five people were inside the house.

Officers found holes in the side of the house and shell casings in the front yard.

This incident is under investigation.

Officers also responded to the following calls Tuesday:

  • At 7:47 a.m. officers responded to 2224 South Frontage Road in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim reported someone stole a 2004 Ford F-150. Police recovered the truck Wednesday at Merit Health River Region, 2100 U.S. Highway 61 North.
  • Tuesday at 11:36 a.m., a complainant entered the police station to report an auto burglary that occurred in the 700 block of Santa Rosa Drive. The complainant stated someone entered her 2006 Mazda 626 and stole a driver’s license, a social security card and a debit card. The vehicle had been left unlocked.
  • Officers responded to a shots-fired call at 6:58 p.m. in the 2700 block of Alcorn Drive. Officers found no evidence of suspicious activity or of shots fired.
