Vicksburg Police make arrest in Family Dollar robbery

Vicksburg Police have arrested a suspect for an armed robbery that took place this morning.

Officers responded to the Family Dollar store at 1305 Mission 66 in response to an armed robbery call on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 8:02 a.m.

The complainant reported that a black male wearing a black hoodie displayed a handgun and took the money from the cash register. The robber fled from the scene in a gray 2018 Honda Sport.

Around 10:30 a.m., investigators spotted the suspect vehicle on South Street.

They arrested Kalif Jones, 22, at his residence there and charged him with one count of armed robbery. He will appear in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Wednesday, Jan. 29, for his arraignment.

In other incidents, officers responded to two auto burglary calls on Monday, Jan. 27.

  • At 12:12 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Edna Drive where the victim reported that a backpack containing credit cards, a driver’s license and cash was taken from a 2007 Chrysler 300. The vehicle had been left unlocked.
  • At 1:44 p.m. officers responded to TD’s Tires at 2704 Clay St., where the complainant stated someone had taken a handgun from a 2016 Ford F-150 sometime during the weekend.
