Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department’s Narcotics/Neighborhood Enhancement Team made two felony arrests recently in separate incidents.

On Wednesday, investigators approached a suspicious vehicle at the Fastway Smoke Break, 1217 Cherry St. A police K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics, and a search of the vehicle revealed approximately 10 grams of marijuana and two handguns. Officers arrested Tyler Mixon, 20, charging him with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Thursday, investigators stopped a suspicious vehicle on Second North Street. The driver, DeMichael Jones, 27, was found to be in possession of approximately one gram of cocaine.

Mixon and Jones appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Friday, April 17. Carpenter set Mixon’s bond at $10,000 and Jones’ bond at $40,000. Both were bound over to the Warren County grand jury.
