Vicksburg Police make two felony arrests; report burglaries and shots-fired incidents
Vicksburg Police made two felony arrests recently in unrelated cases.
Officers arrested Mac McKinley Cox, 24, of Vicksburg, on Tuesday, April 14, on charges of domestic violence, discharging a firearm in the city limits and curfew violation.
On Wednesday, police arrested Rory Warnock, 56, of Vicksburg, on one count of uttering a forgery from an incident that occurred in March 2019.
Cox and Warnock appeared in the Vicksburg Municipal Court Wednesday before Judge Penny Lawson. Lawson set Cox’s bond at $2,500, and Warnock received a $5,000 bond. Warnock was bound over to the Warren County grand jury.
In reported incidents for Monday, April 13:
Officers responded to two business burglaries:
- At 7:34 a.m. officers responded to the Purks YMCA, 267 YMCA Place, due to a burglary of some storage units. Two generators, 300 feet of copper wire and a number of power tools were stolen.
- At 9:14am officers responded to Tri-State Tire, 2209 Washington St., where the complainant stated that over the weekend, two U-Haul trailers were taken.
Officers responded to a residential burglary on Bellevue Street at 11:00 a.m. Monday. The victim reported someone had broken into his outside shed and took a Weed Eater and a gas-powered pole saw.
At 12:14 p.m. Monday, George Carr Motors, 2950 South Frontage Road, reported an attempted auto theft. The complainant reported someone had attempted to steal a white 1980 Chevrolet Corvette.
Vicksburg Police officer responded to four calls of shots fired on Monday:
- At 10:26 a.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of Mulvihill Street. They found no evidence of shots fired in the area.
- At 6:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of First East and Adams Street. They noted no suspicious activity and found no evidence of shots being fired.
- At 8:16 p.m., officers responded to Patton Street, where witnesses identified a suspect vehicle and the officers recovered three spent shell casings from the street.
- At 8:22 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Meadow Street. An officer found a red Nissan Altima with several bullet holes in the passenger side of the vehicle and 15 shell casings on the ground near the vehicle.
