Vicksburg police make two unrelated arrests on firearms charges

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department made two unrelated arrests on firearms charges Thursday and Friday.

Police arrested Tyler Mixon, 20, of Vicksburg, Thursday, Aug. 6, and charged him with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Mixon appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court Friday, Aug. 7, where she set his bond at $25,000 and bound him over to the Warren County grand jury.

Officers with the Narcotics/NET Team arrested Cartez Evans, 21, of Vicksburg, subsequent to a traffic stop at 1 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7. He was in possession of a firearm reported stolen in Natchez, Mississippi.

Evans also appeared Friday in Vicksburg Municipal Court before Judge Carpenter who set his bond at $20,000 and bound him over to the Warren County grand jury.
