Vicksburg Police respond to auto theft, auto burglary and shots-fired calls Thursday

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the following calls on Thursday, Jan. 9:

Just after noon, officers were dispatched to the area of Main Street and Locust Street for an auto theft call. The victim reported that his red 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen while parked at the location. The victim had left the vehicle unlocked with the keys in the cupholder.

At 10:38 p.m., officers responded to an address in the 1800 block of Cherry Street for a report of an auto burglary. The complainant stated that someone entered his 2011 Chevrolet Silverado via an unlocked door and took two packs of cigarettes.

Officers responded to two calls of shots fired on Thursday. They did not find any evidence of shots fired or suspicious activity on either call. The first was reported at 3:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of Monroe Street, and the second came in at 5:14 p.m. in the area of Letitia and Speed streets.
