Vicksburg police respond to house burglary, stolen car, shootings

On Aug. 14 at 12:40 p.m. Vicksburg Police Department officers responded to a residential burglary call in the 200 block of Smoky Lane. Stolen from the home was a 49-inch smart television and an ECHO brand weed eater.
The VPD also responded to an auto recovery call at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 105 Washington St., at 4:02 p.m. Aug. 14. The vehicle was a stolen rental car from Las Vegas that was parked in the Enterprise parking lot. No damage was done to the car.
VPD officers responded to a shooting on the 600 block of Locust Street at 10 p.m. Aug. 14. Upon arrival, first responders located three to four 40 millimeter or 9 millimeter shell casings. There was no injury or property damage reported.
VPD officers also recorded an attempted aggravated assault and drive-by shooting. The victim entered the Police Department claiming someone shot at her near 1st and E. Washington streets and again at the Mission Mart, 1010 Mission 66. One shot was reportedly fired at both locations, and officers located one 380 Ruger shell casing near the gas pumps at Mission Mart. No time was provided; however, there is a person of interest in this case.
