Vicksburg police respond to numerous thefts

The Vicksburg Police Department reports that officers responded to the following thefts from Friday, Jan. 15, through Monday, Jan. 18.

On Friday at 12:07 p.m. officers responded to a residence on Pittman Road in reference to grand larceny. The resident reported that someone stole his $1,200.00 stimulus check from his mailbox.

Friday, at 8:09 p.m., officers responded to the Rivertown Campground, 5900 Hwy 61 South in reference to an auto burglary. The victim stated that someone went into his 2018 GMC Sierra, stealing a Kel-Tec PMR 30 .22-caliber magnum handgun from the middle console.

Saturday at 4:30 p.m. officers responded to an address in the 1300 block of Chambers Street in reference to an auto burglary. The vehicle owner reported someone went into his 2020 Dodge Ram stealing his Springfield XD .357 Sig firearm. The vehicle had been left unlocked.

Sunday at 7:19 p.m. officers responded to an address in the 2000 block of Sky Farm Avenue in reference to a residential burglary. The victim reported that someone broke into his home and stole nine Remington rifles. The firearms were later recovered.

On Monday, January 18, 2021, at 10:22 a.m. officers responded to 1900 South Frontage Road in reference to a commercial burglary. The victim stated that someone broke into his storage unit stealing a chain saw, a concrete cutoff saw, a boat, a motor, a gas/electric generator, and copper fittings. The approximate value of the stolen items is $2,250.
