The City of Vicksburg recognized firefighter and emergency medical technician Stephen Purvis Monday for his five years of service to the city.

Purvis has been with the Vicksburg Fire Department since 2016 where he is responsible for a number of life saving duties including CPR, providing first aid treatment and on-the-scene medical help at accidents and fires.

Purvis is grateful to many for allowing him to serve Vicksburg.

“I would like to thank my parents for my success,” Purvis said, adding, “I would also like to thank the mayor and alderman for the recognition.”

Purvis is a native of Vicksburg and graduated from Porter’s Chapel Academy in 2011.
