Vicksburg residents frustrated with street light outages

Vicksburg South Ward Alderman Alex Monsour has had enough.

Over the past couple of years, there has been an increasing issue with the number of malfunctioning street lights. Some of the lights around Vicksburg have been out for over a year.

Monsour said the city leases the street lights from Entergy and pays the company a fee to operate and maintain them. Over the past year, Monsour has been patiently reporting outages to Entergy. The process is to give Entergy the pole number, then Entergy comes out and marks the pole—usually with a red ribbon—and then a repair crew comes to fix it.

For whatever reason, repairs have been painfully slow to happen.
