An iconic Vicksburg location says goodbye as it prepares to shut it’s doors on Saturday.

John’s Grocery on Highway 80 at Mt. Alban is closing at 4 p.m. on Saturday after being in business since 1971. For 50 years,  John and Randall Mauck have been providing the community with service.

John Mauck acquired the store from the Buck family who built the store in 1931, the same year John was born.

The father and son have decided that it’s time to let things go and take some time to sit back and relax.

“We’re going to miss everybody, we love all our friends. It’s sad but we are at the end of the road,” stated Randall Mauck. “It’s been a long road.”

Mauck told the Vicksburg Daily News he will make a great deal for someone that wants to start the business back up.
