Vicksburg set to host Mississippi River Monsters Mega Bucs Pro Series on Saturday

The City of Vicksburg is gearing up to serve as the host for the Mississippi River Monsters Mega Bucs Pro Series on Sat., Aug. 5. This event plans to bring together 65 teams, with each team comprising four anglers. The participants, along with their families, are anticipated to flood the city for the full week.
In a bid to boost local eateries and celebrate the angling theme, Vicksburg restaurants are being invited to participate in a week-long promotional event featuring catfish dishes. Restaurants interested in taking part can feature catfish on their regular menu, or as a special appetizer or entrée. If interested, restaurants should indicate their participation by Monday, July 17, through contacting Laura Beth Strickland at laurabeth@visitvicksburg.com or by phone at 601-831-3373.
From Jul. 30 to Aug. 5, residents and tourists alike are urged to savor meals at the participating eateries. The food festivity will reach its peak at the Vicksburg Convention Center on Sat., Aug. 5, where attendees are invited to vote for their top catfish dish. The establishment receiving the most votes for their catfish creation will be awarded the title of “Restaurant Catfish Champion” at the tournament’s weigh-in, also taking place at the Vicksburg Convention Center. As a bonus, all those casting votes will be entered into a drawing with a chance to win a $500 shopping spree in the city’s downtown.
The weigh-in is set to be a high-profile event for the participants. The public is also invited to witness the spectacle of record-breaking catfish caught from the river. The tournament organizers plan to have a large tank showcasing the catches of the day. Furthermore, fans can expect an autograph session with Godwin from Duck Dynasty and an appearance by celebrity fisherman Bill Dance.
Any further ideas or special incentives for the visiting anglers are warmly welcomed and can be relayed to the event organizers.
