Vicksburg’s adult curfew will be lifted Thursday, May 21 at 5 a.m. with the reopening of Mississippi’s casinos.

Mayor George Flaggs Jr. confirmed this evening that he will be ending the adult curfew, which has been in effect since March 23.

The juvenile curfew will remain in place until June 1. The juvenile curfew is in effect from 7:30 p.m. until 7:30 a.m.

The mayor came to the decision in consultation with Vicksburg Police Police Chief Milton Moore, who said it would be too complicated to enforce a curfew with the casinos open.

“We’re just trying to lift the order as much as we can, as quickly as we can,” Flaggs said. “I think everything is going good, so far. I still encourage everybody to practice social distancing and to wear their masks.”
