Father Rusty Vincent of St. Paul’s Catholic Church will fly over the City of Vicksburg and surrounding areas this afternoon, praying for the region in this time of crisis.

Vincent said other pastors in U.S. cities have taken to the sky in recent days. The 35-year-old priest has been at St. Paul’s since early 2019 following a stint in Starkville.

Piloting Rev. Vincent will be Vicksburg businessman Dan Fordice, who said he plans to use his biplane to fly around the city. Fordice, who is a St. Paul’s parishioner, said he received a request from the Knights of Columbus and was happy to have a role in this unusual event.

The duo is scheduled to leave the Vicksburg-Tallulah Regional Airport at around 2:30 p.m. Fordice said you should see the bright yellow aircraft over the city at around 3 p.m.

As services are currently suspended at St.Paul’s, as in other churches, Vincent plans on streaming mass during Holy Week.
