Vicksburg Warren School District releases guidelines for upcoming sports events

To comply with Gov. Tate Reeves’ recent Executive Order 1518, and in their ongoing commitment to ensure the safety of students and the community, the Vicksburg Warren School District Board of Trustees voted to limit spectators at several upcoming events as outlined below. All attendees must practice social distancing.

8/25/2020 – Warren Central versus Vicksburg Volleyball Game

A maximum of two spectators per participant may attend. All attendees shall wear face coverings, covering the nose and mouth at all times while attending indoor organized extracurricular events.

8/28/2020 – Vicksburg versus Hazlehurst (at WCHS) – Football scrimmage

Players, officials and coaches will attend and are encouraged to wear masks during the game. Cheerleaders, dance teams and band will not perform at this scrimmage. No spectators will be permitted at this scrimmage.

8/28/2020 – Warren Central versus Holmes County (at WCHS) Football Scrimmage

Players, officials and coaches will attend and be encouraged to wear masks during the game. Cheerleaders, dance teams and band will not perform at this scrimmage. No spectators will be permitted at this scrimmage.

8/29/2020 – WCHS Round Robin Volleyball Tournament (WCJHS Gym)

Players, officials and coaches will attend. All attendees shall wear face coverings, covering the nose and mouth at all times while attending indoor organized extracurricular events. No spectators will be permitted at these games.

9/4/2020 – Vicksburg High School versus Warren central High School (Red Carpet Bowl Game at WCHS) – Football Game

Cheerleaders, dance team and band may attend this game. Student participants who are seniors will have the opportunity to purchase two spectator tickets. Masks must be worn unless attendees can safely social distance (be at least 6 feet from others).

All events will be available to view free via livestream on social media and for a nominal fee on the NFS network.
