Vicksburg woman dies from stab wounds after late night fight

A Vicksburg woman has died as a result of stab wounds after a late-night fight in the Waltersville Estates.
The woman was reportedly involved in an ongoing dispute with another person at Waltersville Estates that escalated into a physical disturbance. At about 11:25 p.m. on Thursday night, police were dispatched to King Drive where people were arguing, moments later, several callers reported there was a large fight going on between building 130 and building 30.
At 11:30 p.m. the call went out that someone had been stabbed in the altercation. That person was immediately transported by a private vehicle to the hospital.

Numerous Vicksburg Police units arrived at the scene of the altercation on King Drive. Soon after they arrived they discovered another woman had also been stabbed in the fight. She was treated at the scene by FireMedic 40 and transported to the hospital. Her wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
A third person, a man, was also treated by FireMedic 40 for a cut on his left arm. He was treated and released at the scene.
There were numerous broken sticks and bottles on King Drive near the area the fight was believed to have occurred. A vehicle had a broken windshield and an orange ceramic kitchen knife and case were observed at the scene.
Police detained and then took into custody two individuals believed to be involved in the fight, including the man who was treated for a minor wound on his left arm.
The woman who was transported by a private vehicle to the hospital was reported to be in critical condition. Over 20 family members and friends showed up at the hospital to show support for the family of the woman.
At around 1 a.m. the family was audibly distraught as they learned the woman had succumbed to her wounds.
The investigation into the stabbing death is currently ongoing. The Vicksburg Daily News will update you with the police report when it is made available.
