Dahlia Grissom’s mother announced her child died on Friday around 10:30 a.m. She passed at home surrounded by those who loved her.

Dahlia was diagnosed in 2020 with DIPG, or diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. DIPG is an aggressive and difficult to treat type of brain tumor found in the brainstem that primarily affects children.

She was supported by the community, including the Missy Gators who raised $6,000 for her during their annual Strikeout Cancer Tournament on March 27.

Dahlia recently was celebrated at her Magical PreBirthday Prom event on May 13. Many friends and family within the community showed out to celebrate with Dahlia.

Vicksburg Daily News wishes to extend our sincerest condolences to the family.
