Vidalia Junior High School teachers set up Amazon wish lists after classrooms are ransacked
Teachers from the Louisiana junior high school that was ransacked by vandals in late June have created Amazon wish lists for those who wish to aid the recovery efforts.
Vidalia Junior High School was severely vandalized, leaving piles of destruction and vulgar graffiti in the wake.
Security footage shows three juveniles were responsible. Each has been identified and charged with burglary and vandalism.
“It felt like a tornado and a hurricane hit at the same time,” said Sarah Powers Aldridge on social media. “I was fortunate that my room was one of the last ones hit but others were not as lucky. The damage was so extensive I can’t even begin to list it.”
No object seemed safe. Televisions, laptops and various other equipment were destroyed. The windows and doors of the school were also shattered and broken by the suspects. According to Vidalia Police Chief Joey Merrill, every room of the building was hit.
The teachers have compiled Amazon wish lists to help them restore the classroom material which was destroyed.
