One person is dead in a shooting at an apartment complex on Blossom Lane.

Around 1:00 a.m. reports came in of an accident at the Apple Orchard apartments where a vehicle hit a tree or a light pole. Initial indications were that at least one person in the vehicle was unresponsive.

Warren County firefighter Marquis Holmes was next to arrive at the scene and he began to render assistance to the driver. He quickly shifted his attention to the passenger in the backseat.

In a video report with the Vicksburg Daily News, Sheriff Pace stated, “Just after 1 o’clock, Vicksburg Warren 911 received reports of a motor vehicle crash on Blossom Lane at an apartment complex. The first deputy arrived on the scene within minutes. There were two people in a vehicle that had crashed into a light pole. One of those individuals appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. That individual was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Doug Huskey. The other individual was transported to River Region Medical Center for injuries that appear to have been sustained from the car crash. It is still unclear at this time as to what exactly took place prior to the crash.”

Sheriff Pace went on to say, “We have not positively identified the deceased individual at this time. And it’s still an ongoing investigation. Investigators have been out all night on this and continue to work during the day. If anybody has information that would help us find some much-needed answers to this, we would encourage you to call the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and ask to speak to an investigator or call Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers. I’ll update the Vicksburg Daily News when we have additional information to release.”
