Video reveals details of the fight that led to Brandon shooting

DeShawn Xavien Douglas, 18, of Vicksburg, was arrested Monday in Brandon in connection with the shooting of 54-year-old Christopher Miln.
Miln was shot several times and later died from his injuries.
Video footage taken by a witness and neighbor, Brandon Warren, shows the altercation that eventually led up to the shooting.
In the video, Miln is seen provoking Douglas and spitting at him. At one point Douglas says, “Spit in my face and throwing mud at me … I really should hurt you, but I’m not gonna do it,” as he retreats back onto a porch.
When Douglas tries to walk away, Miln follows him and the fight becomes physical. Another bystander is seen trying to break up the fight and can be heard telling Miln that he is drunk. At this point the video ends, and witnesses say the shooting took place shortly after.
“It just shows there are two sides to every story,” Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said. “And yes, it will be used as evidence in this case, and I believe the district attorney will use that video at the grand jury.”
