Vikings knock off Biloxi 8-1 on Saturday
Warren Central High School baseball team will take things into game three after knocking off Biloxi 8-1 on Saturday.
“We finally put all three aspects pitching, hitting, and defense together,” head coach Randy Broome said. Last night we pitched well but made a few mistakes, so now we put all three together and to come back today and take care of that. I’m obviously proud of them.”
A sacrifice by Seth Sterling helped WC go up 1-0 in the first inning. RBIs from Blake Channell, Floyd Davenport, and Sterling would push the Vikings’ lead to 4-0 by the end of the second.
By the fourth inning, WC would continue to rack up hits as Braxton McCurley and Connor Watkins both got a single along with Jack Wright who got a RBI to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead.
WC continued their excellent play into the fifth inning where Sterling hit a ground ball as Channell got the run.
Davenport went 3 for 4 on the day and Channell went 2 for 3 as they both got one RBI. Kylan Landers, McCurley, Sterling(two RBIs), Wright, and Smith each got one hit.
Brooks Willoughby pitched for six innings as he struck out four while Joey Greer struck out one.
WC will now travel to Biloxi in the final game on Monday which will begin at 7 p.m.
